Himesato Mai (姫里舞 Himesato Mai) is a character who appears in HeartCatch Pretty Cure!☆Reborn: The Legend of the Dancing Maiden!. She is shown to have a major role in the movie.

Appearance[]

As a civilian, Mai has long silvery-white hair tied into a low bun, and gold eyes and a pink headband. She wears a pink dress with light pink frills, and has pink shoes.

As the Dancing Maiden, Mai's hair is tied up into a high bun and has feathers on her head. She wears a white dress with gold detailing, and white shoes. She also wears the Dance Tiara on her head.

History[]

Mai is a ballerina from the Dance Kingdom, but she had no confidence in her dancing. One day, when the evil sorceress Tempest attacked, Mai overheard Tempest's plan and began to seek out the Pretty Cure. After managing to convince them, Mai takes five Cures to the kingdom, and they travel to the palace in order to find the Dance Tiara, which is said to glow when placed upon the Dancing Maiden's head. Mai is convinced to try on the Dance Tiara, but she and the Dance Tiara were captured by Tempest. Cure Rose tried to save Mai, but is captured as well. Later on, Mai managed to put on the Dance Tiara, which revealed Mai to be the Dancing Maiden. When Cure Rose (in her Flower Form) sacrificed herself to protect Mai, Cure Rose transformed into Super Love Rose, and she and Mai performed "Love Dance Blizzard", and purified Tempest. Everything was in peace again, and the Cures went back to the human world.

Personality[]

Mai is a caring but shy girl, with no confidence in her dancing abilities. Despite being shy, she loves to dance, but is afraid of what people will think of her. By the end of the movie, she becomes brave and fearless.

Etymology[]

Himesato (姫里): Hime (姫) translates to "princess", obviously referring to her alter ego as the Dancing Maiden, and Sato (里) translates to "village", most likely referring to Mai living in a village.

Mai (舞): Mai translates to "dance", referring to Mai's love to dance.
